ABOUT

THE Park

Why "The Ronny"?

The Ronny Golf Park is named after Ronny Glanton, PGA, who has been the Head Professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas, since 1985. He served as President of the Northern Texas PGA Section twice, the only professional in the Section’s history to do so.

His first term of service was from 2006-2007 and the second was from 2018-2019. The most notable accomplishment under Glanton’s leadership was in 2018 when the PGA of America announced its relocation to Frisco, and the PGA Frisco campus would include a new home for the Northern Texas PGA. Glanton was honored by the PGA of America in 2020 with the National Golf Professional of the Year Award. In 2022, he was inducted into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame.

Throughout his career, Glanton has been a large proponent of junior golf. With Ronny’s more than 30 years of service and dedication to the game, it made him the perfect namesake for The Ronny Golf Park.

What Makes It Unique?

The Ronny Golf Park is truly the first of its kind! It is a two-acre, lighted golf park made entirely of fully synthetic turf. It can be played on in rain or shine, day or night. It is designed with junior golfers in mind, and our staff offers a variety of learning the game programs for children ages 3-14. However, it is free and open to the public when not in use for programs.

It features two, reduced-sized, replica 18th hole putting greens from the East and West Courses of PGA Frisco, two chipping greens, a third practice putting green, an 18-hole putting course and a flex area with a playground and obstacle course specifically built for kids.

The features are highlighted in depth below!

The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Carpool Putting Green

The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Carpool Putting Green

The Carpool Putting Green was made possible in part by a very generous donation from the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation. Jordan grew up on the Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour and has supported our Foundation's growth of the game initiatives since 2013. What is unique about the Carpool Putting Green is that it replicates the putts of our NTPGA Junior Tour Members that have won major championships. Each putt was made in the final round of competition that they or their team won.

We took the greens books, yardage books and studied the putts from the broadcasts to replicate them as closely as possible. There are seven putts to be made on the Carpool Putting Green and room for plenty more. #WHOSNEXT!

More About Each Putt

Jordan Spieth’s first putt is a 6-foot putt from hole 15 at the 2015 Masters which set the record for most birdies in a tournament at the Masters (28) and gave him a 5-stroke lead with three holes to play. Next, his 16th hole, 26-foot putt which broke 4 feet left-to-right at Chambers Bay during the 2015 U.S. Open, securing his 2nd major win. Last but not least is the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale’s 15th-hole, 50-foot, double-breaking eagle putt gave him a 1-stroke lead with three holes to go. Can you make all three?

Scottie Scheffler’s putt is from his birdie on hole 15 at the 2022 Masters. He made a 12-footer that gave him a 5-stroke lead with only three holes to go before becoming the eventual champion.

Angela Stanford’s putt is from her 17th hole at the 2018 Evian Championship held at Evian Resort. It was a downhill, double-breaker birdie putt from 25 feet to get within one stroke of the lead.

Brittany Lang’s putt is from hole 16 at the 2016 US Women’s Open held at CordeValle. It is a 20-foot, downhill left-to-right putt that gave her a birdie to take the lead with two holes to play.

Last but not least is Justin Leonard’s infamous Ryder Cup-clinching putt from 1999 at Brookline. The putt was on hole 17 and was 45 feet up and over a ridge, fairly straight to slightly right at the end.

The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation is grounded in the significant areas of special needs youth, junior golf, military support and pediatric cancer. We appreciate their support of our Foundation and this unique golf park feature!
